All meetings, unless otherwise noted, are on the third Thursday of the month at 7.30 pm in Oxenhope Community Centre.
Admission, unless otherwise noted, is £5 for non members, members free. Membership is £25 per year.

17th February | Michael & Alison Mitchell | Michael and Allison are the owners of gold medal winning Slack Top Nursery. |
Their talk, entitled '4 Seasons at Slack Top' will be about how to create an alpine trough and the best alpine plants to grow in this area and also how to grow these plants in other garden situations such as in scree beds and on gravel. They will also bring plants to sell. |

Slack Top Nursery, one of the UK’s top five specialist growers of alpine plants is located high up in Heptonstall in a lovely setting overlooking the moors. | ||
They are hoping to have a few Open Days at the nursery this Spring, and the first provisional dates are Friday 11th & Saturday 12th March. This may change depending on what the Covid situation is at the time, and also on the weather (as they can often be under a foot of snow in March), so please check here for any updates prior to travelling. | ||

She will speak about how to ensure that successional layers of colour can be built into the earliest months of the year, working with sweet-scented shrubs, perennials, blossoms and bulbs, and will also talk about how they have planted 60,000 bulbs amongst the perennials at The Hepworth and will share inspiring planting combinations, techniques for extending spring interest and good aftercare to encourage re-flowering. | ||
Katy has worked in some of the best gardens in the UK and USA including Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh at Logan, Dumfries & Galloway, Tresco Abbey Garden, Isles of Scilly and Longwood Gardens: Pennsylvania, USA. At The Hepworth Wakefield Katy has nurtured the garden from the construction phase onwards, working closely with Tom Stuart-Smith to build a flourishing oasis rich in successional colour and character. | ||
The Hepworth Wakefield has rapidly established itself as one of the key cultural destinations in the north of England. The gallery has been enhanced by newly created gardens created by renowned designer Tom Stuart-Smith and gardened by Katy Merrington. This unique space is free to all visitors and open 24-hours a day, year round. But this is no ordinary public garden. 19th May | Plant sale | The plant sale will be held on Thursday, May 19th at 7.30 pm. There will be a wonderful collection of plants for sale and a delicious selection of cakes to be enjoyed with a cup of tea or coffee, not forgetting the opportunity of winning something good in the raffle. Members donating plants should aim to arrive around 7pm.(or earlier!) |

We are very sorry but unfortunately, due to the very low numbers signed up to the visit to Renishaw Hall, (13), we have had to cancel the trip. We needed to do this now in order to give enough notice of the cancellation to the coach hire company. Your deposits will be returned to you in full. Lucy is a former primary school teacher; she trained in horticulture at Chelsea Physic Garden and with the Royal Horticultural Society and is now a garden designer and writer. She was a contestant on series 4 of The Great British Bake Off and has spent five years as editor of Gardens Illustrated magazine, increasing print and digital readerships to their highest ever level (50,000+). She was awarded BSME, Editor of the Year in 2018. She was the launch editor of Modern Gardens magazine. She has written two books, Brilliant and Wild, winner of Practical Book of the Year at the Garden Media Guild awards and Grow 5. She writes about gardening in the national press, including for The Guardian and The Sunday Times (more Sunday Times). She lives in Bristol with the photographer Jason Ingram. | ||

There will be a wreath - making demonstration and an opportunity to participate in making a wreath. However, due to space limitations, members wishing to participate in making a wreath will be limited to 27. This will ensure enough space is provided to work on making the wreaths effectively and safely. The cost of participating in making a wreath will be £10, which includes the cost of the basic wreath-making materials and seasonal refreshments. Members participating will need to bring their own greenery and a pair of secateurs. The members will be allotted on a first come, first served basis. There will be no cost to non-participating members who will of course, be able to watch the demonstration and ask questions. Non- members will pay £5 and if they are also participating, there will be an additional charge of £10.
Suggested greenery to bring:
Conifers including yew and leylandii. Also, bay, eucalyptus and any variegated shapes, shades and texture of greenery including ivy.
Suggested seed heads and berries:
Poppy seed heads, teasels, sea holly, rose hips, umbels like cow parsley, pinecones. |

For those coming to the November meeting of Oxenhope Gardening Club who travel along Long Causeway (B6141) from Denholme or Queensbury direction, please note that Denholme Road and Jew Lane into Oxenhope are both closed at the moment due to road works. The diversion is to head towards Keighley on Halifax Road (A629) until you reach the traffic lights at The Flappit (pub). Turn left along Haworth Road (B6144) which becomes Brow Top Road towards Haworth. At the Stop Sign turn left along Hebden Road (A6033) and continue into Oxenhope. Diversion route here. |
